I have loved education my entire life!

I’m extremely passionate about the power of education to exponentially develop individuals intellectually, psychologically, and socioeconomically.

This led to a rewarding career in teaching at both the K-12 and college level for over ten years. In 2009 I was nominated as a finalist for Michigan’s Teacher of the Year Award and received high evaluation distinction as an Adjunct Faculty member from Davenport University.  I was also selected as lead facilitator of a 1.6 million dollar Magnet School Grant while implementing innovative instructional practices.  I present nationally at numerous professional development conferences with a focus on Student Success StrategiesWriting, and Equity in Education Programming.  I have extensive knowledge in producing relevant, high quality, innovative academic programs that promote equity, diversity and achievement.

I also believe in fostering a love for reading and have established several Literacy Intervention Programs for at risk minority students in urban areas.  I delight in the gift of words and honor their transformative power as a blogger, freelance writer, and children’s book author.  I hold a bachelor’s degree in English, a Masters in Education and is currently pursuing my PhD in Educational Leadership.

Currently as Director and Success Coach for a federally funded college grant, I get to motivate and encourage while providing  financial support.  Life is sweet!

My professional philosophy focuses on the following areas:

Decreasing Achievement Gap Initiatives

At-Risk Engagement Programs

Research & Evidenced Based Instructional Practices

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

Early Childhood Education Advocacy

Instructional Leadership & Coaching

School Readiness & Literacy Proficiency

Writing to Achieve, Entertain & Reflect

As a Christian,  wife, mother of four and educator ;  family, young people, and  community are my life.

Pizzo's Joy

I am also a Cosby  Show lover, avid reader, junior league basketball and football sideline cheerleader, Detroit Lions  fan, resident master chef (sista can truly burn in the kitchen), wanna-be published author, and all things sweet and gooey fanatic!  I  love to get on my soapbox and spew promulgation to the masses.  Hence, my blog life.

Learning has been my greatest influence and in an attempt to share my passions and pursuits found within life and education Pizzos3.com was developed. It is a reflective resource for all those interested in personal and professional growth.

I hope you find something that causes you to reflect, research, and respond. My joy is found in being a part of exceptionally, thoughtful learners and communicators.

So welcome, and just as if you have visited my home, stay a while! Have some sweet tea and explore the writings. Then while away remember to stop by again and perhaps next time bring a friend.
